Mercury in your Human Design Chart
I finally found time to post this blog that I wrote as a Newsletter in April of 2024 from a Success Codex Training I had done back then on the 4 Success Paths. For more information on the Success Codex, see my Work With Me page on this website.
In this blog, I explain how the planet Mercury factors in your Human Design and Success Codex Chart. But before you read on, grab your Human Design Chart Chart to see what Gate your Mercury is in (I explain how to find it below).
WHAT IS MERCURY IN THE HUMAN DESIGN CHART?
Mercury in your chart is your communication and thinking. It is also your Expression. When I talk about expression, it is not only about the words you speak, but the expression that also comes through your whole being. We are always expressing ourselves. It is in the voice of your body language and how you project that onto others. It is in our energy and even in our silence. Your expression also factors in how well you’re received and whether or not you’re in alignment with your Mercury. The highest level of expression is when you come from your authenticity and your truth.
FOR EXAMPLE MERCURY IN MY CHART:
I have Mercury in Gate 36, which is in the sign of Pisces. This is the Gate of Crisis, Darkening of the Light. Not a very pretty name, but there is good to this gate too. However, it is a very emotional gate to have Mercury in, particularly when it is in your communication and thinking.
Being an emotional gate, when it is not checked can lead to an expression of emotional turbulence or crisis. At its highest level it is an expression of Emotional Mastery. The lesson with this gate is to learn how to transmute emotional turbulence into wisdom to gain Emotional Mastery that you can then help others through. This is the cross one must bear with this gate…to learn to navigate emotional turbulence…to learn to navigate in the dark and bring it into the light for transmutation.
I now actually love that I have Mercury here! But at one time, I didn't. It got me to work on my self-confidence, on my self-love and to learn to accept all my feelings (the good, the bad and the ugly). And I’m still learning. That's what growth is all about. It has also given me a lot of compassion for myself and for others who struggle with emotional turbulence or crisis because I understand! Because I can hold the space for someone else to work through their emotions.
However, I used to think there was something wrong with me. That's because I was conditioned to believe I would not be accepted as someone who is emotional or sensitive and was always told that I'm too sensitve. I would feel shame because of this. I would try to hide. However, that just led me to reacting more emotionally outwardly and/or turning on myself. Both outcomes lead to suffering. The downside of this gate until one learns how to use it.
On some unconscious level we all carry conditioning within us, whether it's positive or negative. People sense this in us. And so, with every gate, there is a lesson to be learned in our expression (especially Mercury) and how we know whether or not we are in alignment.
The lesson with Gate 36 is also one of compassion. Compassion for oneself, for ones emotions, for ones feelings, and for others. It has to do with accepting all that our humanness has to offer. The dark and the light. It’s a gift that lead me on my healing path and into a healing career. It led me into therapy and to have the courage to face difficult emotions. It has given me tools to work with, such as journaling and EFT (a tapping technique). Even working with sound & mantra’s, music, or dance can transmute turbulence into wisdom. Turbulent as this gate can be, it has also been such a gift! And this goes for all the gates. Are you curious to learn more about Mercury in your chart and how to be in alignment?
